Put custom text in the Mac menu bar
This tip (http://www.tipstrs.com/tip/3860/Put-custom-text-on-the-windows-taskbar) describes how to tweak the AM/PM text in windows to get custom text in the task bar. Turns out you can do the same thing on the Mac to get custom text in the menu bar.
Open System Preference and select the International panel. Select the Formats tab and then click on the "Customize..." button in the Times section:
That'll open a new panel where you can enter the text to show in the AM (Before Noon:) and in the PM (After Noon:). Put whatever text you want in these and it'll show up in your menu bar to the right of the time. Once you are done, click "OK" and you change will take effect.
