Taking better portraits

Here's a tip for taking better portraits that is easy to remember, and even easier to do: when taking a portrait, always take the picture from just below the eye-line of the subject. If you are going to light your portrait subject, also light them from slightly below the eye-line. This is a very flattering angle from which to shoot and light your subject and it will make your portraits look better as a result.
