Safe way to kill cockroaches

If you are trying to safely kill cockroaches use a mixture of equal parts sugar and baking powder and spread it in areas where you have cockroaches. The sugar will attract the cockroaches and the baking powder will kill them. But it won't hurt pets or kids.
