Line dry clothes in summer

If you are looking to save money on your energy bill and help reduce your carbon footprint, reduce your usage of your clothes dryer in the summer. Clothes driers take a lot of energy regardless of your dryer type - electric or gas. A much more environmentally friendly way to dry your clothes is to hang them on a drier line. In the summer your clothes will dry quickly this way.

One reason some people don't like to use clothes lines is that your clothes often don't feel as soft after being dried on the line. If this is your reason, there is an easy solution. Dry the clothes on the line, then bring them in and put them in the dryer for five minutes or so, you can even add a dryer sheet. Your clothes will be just as soft as if they were dried in the dryer, and you used a lot less energy in the process.
