Adjusting the sound volume when booting a Mac
When you boot your Mac, the sound volume is really loud (I think), and there is no way to adjust this down. At least, not until now. The folks at Arcana Research have created a little program called StartupSound.prefPane which adds a new pane in your preferences menu which allows you to adjust the volume of the sound that is played when your Mac boots up... you can even turn off the sound entirely.
