Adding or Removing text from the Internet Explorer Title Bar

If your Internet Explorer has annoying branding text in the title, it's easy to remove. You can also add this type of text if there is none currently there.

Here's how to remove existing text:

1) Go to Start > Run and type regedit. This will open the registry editor.

2) Expand the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Software, then Microsoft, then Internet Explorer. This is all done in the left-hand pane.

3) In the right-hand pane, there should be a bunch of entries. Find the one called Window Title. Click on it, then right-click and select Delete.

The annoying text is now gone.

If you want to edit the existing text to read something else, you can right-click on the existing entry and select Modify, then update the value in Value Data.

If you want to add title text and there is none there:

1) Expand the left-hand pane as described above.

2) Right-click on the Main text in the left-hand pane and select New > String Value.

3) This will create a new entry. Enter the name as Window Title.

4) Hit enter, then right-click and select Modify and update the Value Data.
