Notify your credit card company if you are taking a trip

If you are going to be taking a trip, you may want to consider notifying your credit card company first. Some companies will freeze your card if they see what they consider to be an irregular spending pattern. Alerting them ahead of time can help prevent this. At a minimum, make sure you have the toll-free number for your credit card. That way, if they do freeze your card you can call them and get it reactivated.
