Speed up the Vista Send To menuIf your "Send To" context menu in Vista is slow, it's probably because your removable drives are being shown in the menu. When you right-click for the "Send To" menu, Vista needs to contact/check each removable drive as part of building the menu. If you have removable drives and you don't want them in the "Send To" menu, you can remove them and this will greatly speed up the "Send To" menu.
To do this, open the registry editor by going to the Start > Run and entering regedit. Once the registry editor opens, in the left pane navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE + SOFTWARE + Microsoft + Windows + CurrentVersion + Policies + Explorer. Once you are right-click in the right pane and select New > 32-bit DWORD. Name the new value NoDrivesInSendToMenu and give it a value of 1. Once you are done, you'll need to reboot for the change to take effect. But once you do, this will remove the removable drives from the "Send To" context menu and this should speed things up. If you decide you want the removable drives back in the "Send To" menu, just reverse the process and navigate to the existing value you added in the registry editor and change the value from 1 to 0 and they will be shown again.
