Avoid sounds in ads on web pages
I really hate web pages that include ads that have audio in them. You're innocently at work surfing the web, and all of a sudden some random crap starts blasting out of your computer. If it's ever happened to you, you know how embarrassing this can be.
If you are using internet explorer, you can actually configure it so that sounds are not played on the pages directly. This keeps ads from playing sounds, but it still allows you to listen to music, play videos with sound, and other stuff like that where you actually click on something to play it. It you want to save yourself the embarrassment of having this happen to you (again), here's how to configure IE to not play these sounds:
- From the menu bar, select Tools, then Internet Options.
- When the Internet Options panel opens, select the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Multimedia section.
- There will be a checkbox labeled Play sounds in webpages. Uncheck this box and you will be free from listen to ads on webpages.
