Painting a chain link fence

Painting a chain link fence can be a nice way to spruce up an old looking fence. You can also use paint on a fence as a nice accent in your yard. If you want to paint a chain link fence, there are couple of things you need to make sure you do so that the job lasts for many years.

The first thing to do is to properly prepare the fence. If it's a new fence, you have no worries. But if it's an older fence, you need to take care that the chain link is throughly cleaned and that any rusty areas are managed. To do this quickly and easily, get a sand blaster and use on the chain link fence. This will remove most of the built up dirt and grim, and help to remove rust. If there is any rust remaining on the fence, use a spray-on rust inhibitor (primer basically) to keep the rust in check.

Once the fence is ready, the next step is to paint it. Make sure you get paint designed for aluminum. If you don't, the paint will have a hard time sticking and your fence will not look good for long. Once you have your aluminum paint, apply it with a long nap roller to both sides of the chain link. Be careful not to overload the roller. If you do, you'll get drips. Just keep the roller damp, and run it on both sides.

If you follow these tips, your chain link fence will look new and remain looking that way for years to come.
