Simple way to save energy

A simple way to save energy is to reduce the amount of energy used heating water in your house. There are two easy ways to do this.

1. Reduce the temperature of your hot water. The lower you set the heat of your hot water heater, the less time it takes to heat up the water. Time is energy. A lower hot water heater temperature also reduces the amount of heat lost to the surrounding air.

2. Reduce the time you spend in the shower. Showers are one of the main uses for hot water in a house. If everyone in the house reduces their shower time by just one minute, this will add up to hours over the course of a year. By reducing your shower time by one minute, you can reduce the amount of hot water used by over 1000 gallons over the course of a year. That results in some noticeable energy savings.
