Restarting X Windows in Ubuntu

If you need to restart X Windows in Ubuntu press the Ctrl + Alt + Backspace keys all at once. This may work in other flavors of Linux too, but then again, it may not.

Hi,

I have problem that my Ubuntu freeze the X completely ... keyboard is also locked. So I cannot use this trick.

What I can to do is connect via ssh from another computer and restart the whole system.

Could you advise how to restart only gdm?

Thanks
Reddy
