Freezing fruit
Freezing fruit is a great way to save fruit for later for things like smoothies. But if you don't freeze your fruit properly, when you go to use it you'll find that it's frozen into one giant solid block of fruit. If you want to avoid using a hammer to break apart your frozen fruit, the key is in the way it is frozen.
To start, wash your fruit and drain/dry it as needed. Then place the fruit on a cookie sheet such that none of the fruit pieces are touching one another. Then put the cookie sheet in the freezer for several hours, or until the fruit is frozen. Once the fruit is frozen, you can quickly (you don't want it to melt) put it in a freezer storage bag and put the whole bag of fruit in the freezer. If you pre-freeze in this manner, the pieces of fruit will not stick together into a frozen mass, and it'll be a lot easier to use your frozen fruit when you need it.
