Force Quit an application quicker
If you have a hung application on the Mac and you need to "Force Quit" it, you want to do it in as few clicks as possible since your computer may be very unresponsive. The easiest way to is to right-click on the icon of the hung application in the Dock. If it's really hung, the "Force Quit" option will usually be there in the context menu. However, I find that sometimes using this Force Quit does not work. If that's the case, you need to select the Force Quit option from the Apple menu in the menu bar. But that can be sped up to. Instead of selecting Force Quit and waiting for the application to load that allows you to do this, when you are looking at the Apple menu, hold down the Shift key on the keyboard. When you do this, the "Force Quit..." option will be converted to directly Force Quit the current application (the name will be shown once you press the Shift key).
