Mute your computer overnight
If you leave your computer on all the time but you are tired of hearing it beep and make others sounds when you are trying to sleep, there are programs out there that will mute and unmute your computer on a schedule.

If you are on a Mac, the program you want is called SoundAsleep found here: http://www.nullriver.com/products
Both applications allow you to set times to mute and unmute your computer. Now you can leave your computer on overnight and not get woken up every time you get an email or an instant message
