re-use ceral bags for storage

Ever tried to store something sharp or awkwardly shaped in a zip-loc baggie when you are camping, hiking, or biking? It don't work so good. They rip like crazy. If you want a durable bag to store stuff thing and air-tightness is not a requirement, try using the bags that come inside cereal bags. They are tough (ever tried to open one) and a good size. You can fold it or roll it up once you have stuff in it and use a rubber band to keep it packed tight.
