Playing the nut flush
When playing Texas hold'em poker and you have the nut(1) flush, you need to be aware that there is no such thing as a nut flush when the board has paired(2). As soon as the board pairs, there are full house and quad possibilities. While the nut flush is always the best possible hand on an un-paired board, this is not the case once the board pairs. Lots of players have a hard time letting going of a good, or even great, hand. But this is how you end up losing your entire stake. When you have the "nut" flush and the board pairs and someone hits the full house or quads, you need to get out of the hand if they are playing aggressively and you think they have it. Don't get tunnel vision on your flush, and how it can't be beat cause once the board pairs it can be beat.
(1) The nuts refer to the hand which is the best possible hand. The nut flush means that you have the highest card of the flush suit that is not out on the board.
(2) The board is considered paired when the same card (such as a King) show up twice.
