1 - Apply a lash primer before you apply your mascara. The lash primer not only stops your mascara from smearing or running, it also conditions your lashes.

2 - Use a good quality mascara.

3 - Apply a mascara waterproofer after you apply your mascara. There are "waterproof" mascaras out there. But using a separate waterproofer gives much better results at stopping your mascara from smearing or running.
