Transferring Outlook rules

If you want to transfer your Outlook mail filtering rules from one computer to another, it's pretty easy. Here's the process for Outlook 2007.

To start, you need to export your existing rules from Outlook. To do this, from the menu bar go to Tools > Rules and Alerts... and then from the E-mail Rules tab, select the Options link in the upper right corner of the panel. Once you do that, you'll see buttons labeled Export Rules... and Import Rules.... Use the Export Rules... button to export your current rules. This will create a file with an extension of .rwz. You can then transfer this file to the computer where you want the rules to be applied and repeat the process this time selecting the Import Rules... button. Once the button is selected, you can browse to the .rwz file that you created when you exported and the Outlook rules will be transferred to your new computer.
