This sounds weird, but it works. If you get a toothache, you can temporarily relieve the pain with Tabasco sauce. Just put a couple drops on a cotton pad or swab, and then rub the Tabasco onto the aching tooth.

While it should be obvious, I'll state it just in case... do *not* use this for teething babies. The Tabasco sauce will burn their mouths.
