Saving a wet cell phone
If your phone gets dropped in water or otherwise soaking wet, you may be able to save your phone. The key is to get the battery out of the phone as quickly as possible so that the electronic components in your cell phone do not short out. Ditto with the SIM card. As soon as your phone gets wet, remove the battery first, and if your phone has a SIM card, then remove that.
Once the battery and SIM card are removed, you need to completely dry the phone. The key to drying your phone is waiting. Put your wet phone, battery, and SIM card in a warm dry location and leave them there for several days. If your phone has a case that can be removed, remove it as this will help get air into the components of your phone. Since phones don't have a lot of extra space in them, there is very little air flow so it can take a long time for a wet phone to dry completely. If you want to be as safe as possible, wait a week.
Once you think everything is dry, put your SIM card and battery back in and see if your phone works. The battery may need to be charged. If you phone does not work once it is put back together and charged, try removing the battery and using your phone when it is plugged into the charger. If it works in this configuration, the battery is dead but your phone is probably okay. If it does not work in this configuration, your phone and/or SIM card are probably dead.
