Time machine in menu bar

With version 10.5.2 of Leopard, Apple has updated things so that there is now a time machine icon in the menu bar. To me, this just takes up space; I don't need an icon to tell me a backup is happening, I can hear when the external drive kicks on. If you want to get rid of this icon, and select "Open Time Machine Preferences...". When the preferences screen opens, uncheck the box next to "Show Time Machine status in the menu bar", and the icon will be removed from your menu bar. If you decide you like it, you can always get it back by going to System Preferences, choosing Time Machine (in the System section) and rechecking the box.
