Leopard 10.5.2 is available!

If you are running Leopard, you should know that version 10.5.2 is now available. Usually, the updates just have bugfixes in them that most people never *really* care about. But 10.5.2 is different, it actually fixes some of the most annoying changes in Leopard:

- It fixes the translucent menu bar. Once 10.5.2 is loaded, you can go to System Preferences -> Desktop & Screensaver and near the bottom is a checkbox labeled Translucent Menu Bar. Uncheck this box and the menu bar will go back to being solid as it was in Tiger.

- 10.5.2 also fixes the stack behavior of the dock so that you can get the more complete functionality available in Tiger. For starters, the stack icons no longer change based on the first icon that will be shown in the stack. You can right-click on the icon and choose whether you want it to display as a Stack (the way it is in Leopard now), or as a Folder (as it was in Tiger). You also have a new viewing option available. You can still view Folders in Grid or Fan mode, but there is a List view available now too. This new List mode allows you to see things in a more Tiger-like way.

This update fixes the two biggest problems with Leopard. If you want to update now, go to the Apple icon in you menu bar and select Software Update..., the update will happen from there.

In addition to the fixes mentioned, another thing they rolled back is the transparency of the pull-downs in the menu bar. With Leopard, they were very hard to read since they were so transparent. With 10.5.2 they have increased the opacity of these pull-downs so that they are much easier to read now.
