If you use a USB thumb drive and you are on a PC running Windows, Microsoft has app called SyncToy that you should check out. It allows you to automatically synchronize folders on your PC with the thumb drive, kind of like how music gets synchronized using iTunes. It has a lot of features that make managing files on your thumb drive much easier than by just copying around files manually. It's free too, so there's no penalty for looking.
