Using google as the default search in IE7
When you get IE7, the default search provider if you use the search widget is Microsoft's Live search. You don't have to use this though. You can update the search widget in IE7 to use other search engine providers (like Google) pretty easily. Here's how to change this.
- Open IE7 and click on the magnifying glass next to the search widget.
- In the menu that opens, select the "Find More Providers..." option.
- This will open a web page that will allow you to select from most of the popular web search engines. You can also enter a specific URL if there is a search engine you want to use that is not listed.
- Once you click on a provider, you'll be asked to confirm that you really want to do this. In addition to confirming this, you will want to check the box next to "Make this my default search provider" so that this will be your default search in the future.
