pairing record error on iPhone and iPod Touch
If you upgrade your iPhone or iPod Touch to version 1.1.3 of the firmware, you may run into an error the next time you attempt to sync to your computer. The error says something like:
If you get this error, there is an easy fix. Just reboot your computer. It's an embarrassing solution (sounds like something Microsoft would come up with), but it works and it's fairly quick.
iTunes could not connect to the iPod "YOUR NAME HERE" because the pairing record is missing.

In this situation, you need to put your iPhone in DFU mode, then restore or downgrade the firmware. Here is the easy way to do so: First Plugin iphone/touch close itunes.
Step 1. Turn off your iPhone. (Hold Power key until slider appears then turn off.)
Step 2. Hold Power and Home button, the iPhone should now boot.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but HOLD the home button.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you it is in restore mode.
Step 5. The iTunes should now recognize it is a new iphone/itouch, and it should be just as it was when you used it for the very first time. Congratulations.
Step 7. Write a nasty swear laden Email to the Apple Corp for making it so difficult to find the answer to your problem.
Hope this helps
