Select text vertically in Microsoft Word

When you are select text in Microsoft Word, you can actually select arbitrary rectangles of text - you don't have to select an entire line. To do this, just hold down the Alt key before you click the mouse. If you do this, once you click the mouse you will be able to select any arbitrary rectangle of text.
