Transfering files
PipeBytes is a new way yo transfer files to your friends. It works differently that most other services that provide file transfer. Most site make use of P2P networks, or they store the file until the other person gets it. This creates obvious security issues. PipeBytes is different in that it doesn't actually store the file anywhere... it just transfers it directly from you to your intended recipient.
The service is free, there are NO file size limitations (big plus since most other services limit the size). You go to their site, indicate the file and get a key. You pass that key to your friend, they go to the site and enter and the upload/download process begins.
So why would you need this service, can't you just use IM or email to transfer files? Well, yeah, normally. But if one of you is behind a firewall and school or work, this may not be possible. Since the PipeByte service operates just using the web, it's doesn't look like a file transfer to the firewall, so it allows you to bypass firewalls pretty easily.
