Disable DWM when playing gamesWhen playing games in Vista, or really any sort of application that uses Direct3D, you may see a black square appear on the screen. This black square is caused by the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) messing up. The easiest way to keep this from happening is to disable DWM when you are playing games. You can do this quickly by hitting Control + Shift + F9. When you are done, hit this key sequence again to turn the DWM back on.
