If you want to hide your current status on Facebook from other users, here's how you go about doing it:

Once you are logged in to Facebook, select the "Privacy" link and then select "Profile". You will see a selectbox on the right side labeled "Online Status". You can choose either "Only Me" or "No one" and then other people won't be able to see your status. Make sure you hit "Save" so that the changes take effect.
