Ignoring blank song contents in iTunes
There are many artists out there who create songs with large amounts of blank space... or even worse, random mumbling, sounds, etc. This seems to be a favorite thing to do with songs that are last on an album.
When you are listening to your songs on your iPod or in iTunes, this can be pretty darn annoying. It takes a little while to figure out just what's going on, then you have to reach for the controller and forward to the next song. It's even worse when they do this at the beginning of a song since you then either have to be perfect with the fast-forward or skip the song.
There is an easier fix. In iTunes, you can set the start and end time for any song so that you skip the beginning and/or end if you like. To do this, play the song and use the slider that allows you to move through the song so that you can figure out your preferred start and end times. Then right-click on the song and select "Get Info". In the info panel that open, select the "Options" tab. You'll see two lines called "Start Time" and "Stop Time" which can you adjust to any value you like. Once you set the values, make sure the checkboxes are checked and then the song will start and stop where you want it to.
