Getting rid of the download limit in Vista IE7By default, IE7 in Windows Vista will limit you to performing no more than two simultaneous downloads. If you have a slow connection, this can keep you from bogging down your computer. But if you have a fat pipe, this download limit is just another hurdle that Microsoft throws in your way to keep you from getting things down. If you want to remove this limit so that you can perform more than two simultaneous downloads in Vista IE7, here's what you need to do.
1 - Go to the Start menu, type regedit and hit enter to get the registry editor. If you have UAC enabled you'll need to confirm that you really do want to do this. 2 - On the left, navigate down the tree to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings. 3 - In the right pane right click and select the menu options to add a new DWORD (32bit) value. Give the new value this name: MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server 4 - Double click on your newly added value and enter the number of simultaneous connections you want to allow. 5 - Repeat the process of adding a new value and add another new value called: MaxConnectionsPerServer 6 - Again, double click to set the value and make sure you use the same value that you entered for the first parameter you created. Once you are done adding these values, close the registry editor. If IE7 is open, you'll need to close all of the open windows. Once that's done, next time you open IE7 you'll be able to perform more than two simultaneous downloads.
