Keep your sponge clean

If your kitchen sponge is getting a little nasty try throwing it into the dishwasher to get it clean. If you don't have a dishwasher, put it in with your laundry.

Do not do this with sponges used for cleaning things with chemicals like a bathroom sponge since you don't want those chemicals getting on your dishes or in your clothes.

Any idea why? All I know is that it comes out looking better and smelling better too. Can't imagine that the dishwasher would add anything to the sponge that is harmful to dishes.
