Reducing CRT monitor flicker
Flat panel monitors are taking over the work place. But if you're still stuck using a CRT monitor work like me, you know that they tend to flicker and this really bothers your eyes after a while. If you are still on a CRT monitor, the best way to reduce the flicker of the monitor is to set the refresh rate as high as the monitor can handle.
If you are using Vista, here's how you adjust the refresh rate (I suspect it'll be pretty similar for XP).
1. Right-click on an open area of your desktop and select Properties from the menu that gets shown.
2. Click the Settings tab.
3. Select the Advanced button (towards the lower-right part of the panel).
4. Select the Monitor tab.
5. There will be a selectbox labeled "Screen refresh rate". Select the biggest value that shows up in here, then click the Apply button.
If you make this change, it will help reduce the amount of flicker on your CRT monitor.
