Send text messages through AIM
If you are using AOL instant messenger (AIM), you can send text messages to your friends cell phones by sending instant messages. Set up a friend in your AIM account where their name is the 10-digit phone number of your friends mobile phone with no dashes. For example, 8005551212
Once you do this, when you IM to this friend, your instant message will be converted to a text message and sent to your friends cell phone.
