They are great for when you need to scrape material in tight area (such as removing squeezed out glue near a joint, or cleaning up tile grout), or if you need to pack material into a tight area (such as when filling joints). Mosts dentists are more than happy to part with their older tools, just call around town to their offices and you'll probably find some.
