Better looking fonts in Windows
Windows computers don't by default use font smoothing. This can lead to fonts that just look "slightly off" on your Windows machine; this is most usually noticed when surfing the web. If you want to enable font smooting to make your Windows fonts look better, here's how to do it.
In Windows XP, right-click on the Desktop and select Properties. When this brings up Display Properties panel, select the Appearance tab, then select the "Effects..." button near the bottom of the panel. In the window that pops up, make sure the box is checked next to "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" and select "Clear Type" as the method to be used (it's usually set to "Standard" as the default). Once that is done, click the OK button to close the window and then hit Apply to make these changes.
If you are using Windows Vista, you need to right-click on the Desktop and select Personalize. Then click Window Color and then select Appereance. If Aero is enabled, you'll need to click on "Open classic appearance properties for more color options". Once you get through that, you should be able to click on the "Effects..." button and the remaining instructions are the same as those described above for Windows XP.
Once you make these changes, you're fonts should look nicer when you are surfing the web.
