Tips to spot a fake Rolex

Here are some easy tips to help spot a fake Rolex.

- The price. If someone is trying to sell you a Rolex for $100, chances are pretty good that it's a fake.

- If it ticks, it's a fake. Rolex's don't tick, they are very quiet. It's one of the things you pay extra for.

- Look at the movement of the second hand, the movement should be almost continious as if the second hand is sweeping around the face. If you see jerky movements of the second hand, it's a fake Rolex.

- If there is no second hand, it's a fake Rolex.

- There should be a glass back. If not, it's a fake Rolex.

- Look at how water beads on the glass. Rolex's use a special type of glass called sapphire glass which is more scratch resistant than regular glass. When water is dropped on sapphire glass, it will create very distinct beads. Water drop on regular glass will also bead, but the beads will be less defined and there will be smearing of water on the glass. Water will not smear across sapphire glass that is found on a real Rolex.
