keeping plywood and MDF cuts from ripping the surface of the material

Sometimes when you are cutting plywood or MDF, the material on the surface face will rip slightly. If this is happening to you, try putting down some masking tape along the line to be cut. I've found that this really helps to reduce the ripping.

Another thing to remember, when cutting plywood on a table saw, the "good" side goes up. When cutting plywood with a circular saw, the "good" side goes down.
