Lower your blood pressure naturally
Here are some tips on how to naturally lower your blood pressure.
1 - Make changes to your diet. Increase your consumption of vegetables, fresh fruit, whole grains, and legumes. If you eat dairy products, switch to low, and non fat versions. Eat less meat and when you do eat meat, switch to leaner meats. Reduce your intake of sodium (salt). Make as many of these changes as you can to help lower your blood pressure.
2 - Get some excercise. Research has shown that 30 minutes of moderate exercise 3 times a week can help to lower blood pressure significantly. This isn't a lot of time, so anyone should be able to squeeze in this amount of exercise.
3 - Decrease the amount of stress in your life. Your blood pressure increases when you are under physical or emotional stress, reduce the stress and you'll reduce your blood pressure. I won't go into ways that you can reduce your stress since there are countless ways and what works is different for every person. There have been a lot of books written on this subject... go buy one.
4 - If you are overweight, lose some weight. Research indicates that long-term weight loss brings a sustained reduction in blood pressure. Even modest weight loss over the long term is highly beneficial to overweight people with high blood pressure. For some people, losing weight might be the only treatment need to lower high blood pressure.
5 - Limit your drinking of alcoholic beverages. Excessive alcohol use can raise your blood pressure. In addition, drinking more than two drinks a day can reduce the effectivity of some blood pressure medications. If you are going to drink, limit yourself to two drinks a day.
