softening hard brown sugar

If your brown sugar gets hard, it's because it has dried out. To get it soft again, you need to get water back into it, but you need to do this with applying water directly to the sugar. You can add the water back in by putting damp paper towels into a sealed container along with the brown sugar. Just make sure that the towel is not in contact with the sugar.
