If you want to avoid getting calls from telemarketers (and who doesn't), then register your phone number with the nation do not call registry. Once your number is on the list, telemarketers have 31 days to stop calling you. If you get calls after that time, you can file a complaint at the do not call registry website. I registered and the number of telemarketer calls I got dropped to almost known. Now, when I get the occasional telemarketer call I ask for their phone number and tell them I need it to file a complaint against them, that always gets rid of them in a hurry.
