Speed-up the iPhoto launch
On my computer, iPhoto was taking a looooong time to launch. I finally figured out that it was spending all its time looking for shared photos on my network. Since I don't use the shared photo feature in iPhoto, I turned it off. What a difference. Where it used to take 30 seconds for iPhoto to launch, it now starts in about 5 seconds.
If iPhoto is launching slow for you and you're not using the shared photos capability, here's how to turn it off and speed up iPhoto.
- In the menu bar go to iPhoto -> Preferences....
- In the preference, select the Sharing tab at the top.
- Uncheck the boxes next to Look for shared photos and Share my photos. It should look like this....
Once that change is made, close iPhoto and then start it again. It should be a lot faster.
