Faster Start menu in Windows
Windows has a built-in delay that occurs when you click on the Start menu. By default, the delay is 400 msec... almost half a second that you need to wait for no good reason. If you want, you can easily change this value all the way down to 0 so that you can have the start menu open quicker in Windows.
To start, go to the registry editor by going to Start -> Run and entering regedit. Once the registry editor opens, navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop section on the left side of the panel. Once you are there, look to the right side of the panel for an entry called MenuShowDelay. The current value will likely be 400 (the default). Double click on this and change it to whatever you like, I set mine to 0.
Once you have made this change, your start menu will open much faster.
