Avoid launching iPhoto when connecting a camera to a Mac

By default when you connect a digital camera to a Mac, it launches iPhoto to allow you to transfer the images. If you use another application, or you prefer to select an application at the time you hook up your digital camera, this creates an extra step. If you like, you can actually configure your Mac to behave differently when you connect a digital camera. Just go to the Applications folder and launch the Image Capture program. Once it starts, go to the Image Capture -> Preferences and select the General tab. There is an entry on this tab called "When a camera is connected, open:". This will be set to iPhoto by default. By changing this pull down option, you can select any application you like or you can choose to not launch any application when you connect a digital camera to your Mac.
