Turn off old search suggestions in Windows 7
When you search in Windows 7, it shows the last 3 searches you performed when you are typing in your search text. I find contextual search suggestions really useful. Unfortunately, these suggestions are not at all contextual and I find them to be more distracting than useful. If you want to make these old search suggestions go away, you can configure your group policy so that they are not shown.
Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu and hit enter to start the group policy editor.
Once it opens, navigate on the left side to: Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer.
In the right side, double click on the entry called Turn off display of recent search entries in the Windows Explorer search box and select the Enabled option (yes, you are enabling the turning off of this feature... very clear, no?).
Click OK to save your changes.
Now when you search in Windows 7, it will no longer show the recent search entries.
