There are plenty of websites out there that embed video and audio clips in their content. Usually this is no big deal, but on many of these sites with video or audio content, the page is set up so that as soon as the pages loads the video or audio starts playing. This can be a little inconvenient at times when you start cranking out some loud embarrassing clip at work just by loading a web page. If it's happened to you, you'll know what I am talking about.

If you want to stop this from happening to you, you can configure your browser so that media file which are configured to play when the page loads don't; instead, they need to what for you to click on them to start them playing. Here's how it is done.

If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced. Look in the Settings, for the Multimedia heading and uncheck the "Play sounds in web pages" and "Play videos in web pages" checkboxes.

If you are using Firefox you need to install the "Stop Play" extension. You can find it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/1765. The Stop Play plug-in disables the automatic playing of embedded video and audio while still allowing you to play it later when you want.
