Keep new applications from being highlighted

In Windows 7 when you install new application they get shown in a highlighted style in the Start menu for some period of time. You can set a preference to keep this from happening.

Right-click on the Start menu and select "Properties" from the menu.

When the properties window opens, select the "Start Menu" tab and then click on the "Customize..." button.

Scroll down to the option called "Highlight newly installed programs" and uncheck the box next to it.

Click "OK" to save your changes.

Newly installed programs will not longer be shown as highlighted in the start menu now.
