Unblocking a phone number

If you are making a call from a phone line that has the number blocked for caller ID, and you want to unblock the number so that the caller can see you (some people only answer calls from people they know), just dial *82 before you make your call. After you dial *82, you should get a new dial tone and for the one call that you now make, the caller ID masking will be removed.

This works. If you call somewhere that doesn't accept blocked numbers, using *82 before calling works. I just did it!

Dial *82... then WAIT for a new dial tone... then dial your number! Took me a couple tries because I kept dialing the number immediately after... BUT it DOES work!

I thought this was common knowledge. there used to be a recording saying it

I thought it was *67... That has always worked for me. Also, if one were to be on a wireless phone, then there is no dial tone.

*67 is used to BLOCK a call from being seen by the person you are calling.

*82 is used to UNBLOCK your number, so that it can be seen by the person you are calling.
