Typing in passwords on a public computer
If you are using a public computer, you should never type in a password on the computer. You should assume that every public computer has key logging malware (software which keeps track of every key that is pressed on the keyboard) and if you type in a password, it is then compromised.
But what if you really, really, need to do something on a public computer that requires a password? Here's a trick you can use to enter the password without it being available to key logger software.
On a piece of paper, write down your password and scramble the characters. Then add several extra characters and intersperse them with the characters of your password.
For example, let's say my password is Bunny23. On the sheet of paper, I'd write down n2uB3yn (the order is scrambled). I'd then add some additional characters so that it reads Jn2&BE3yVn and this final string is what I would then enter into the password field.
Then using the piece of paper so you know which character is which, use the mouse to move around the password field and delete the extra characters. Once they are gone, again using the mouse, cut and paste the letters into the correct order for your password. You'll then have your password entered into the password field without having actually typed your password.
